Desert Mountain Fitness Center in the Sonoran Clubhouse is an exceptional 10,000 square foot facility with the most advanced equipment available. It is designed to provide Desert Mountain members with the finest facilities for total health and well-being. The Sonoran Spa and Fitness Center is an integral component of the active Desert Mountain lifestyle.

The Fitness Center has the latest Cybex® cardio and weight training equipment, free weights and the assistance of personal trainers. There is a wide variety of fitness classes available to Desert Mountain members:

30 / 30 – 30 minutes of low impact aerobic movements followed by 30 minutes of toning. (60 minutes) Balance & Strength / Flexibility – These classes include stretches for the entire body and conclude with a relaxation segment. Balance your workout routine with flexibility training for enhanced sports performance and reduced risk of injury. (50 minutes) BOSU Sculpt / Cardio – Strengthen all your muscles and work the cardiovascular system with the BOSU, a balance challenging piece of equipment! (50 minutes) |
Circuit Weight Training – Small group weight training! Utilize dumbbells to isolate all body parts and improve your strength. This class is a great option to one-on-one personal training. (50 minutes) Fitball / Fitball & BOSU – Exercise on the ball and/or the BOSU! Balance, strength and cardio are all included. (50 minutes) Fish Out of Water – Step out of the water and into this classroom for a gentle full body workout. (45 minutes) Fitball – Exercise on the ball! This 45 minute class will work your entire body. Balance, strength and cardio. (45 minutes) Golf Stretch – Flexibility exercises designed specifically for golfers. Increase performance and reduce the risk of injury. (45 minutes) Pilates – The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning focuses on strength while improving posture, body alignment, coordination, and muscle tone. The result is a firm body that is supple and flexible. Beginning and Intermediate level on Wednesdays. Advanced level on Mondays and Fridays (50 minutes, 12 participant maximum). |
*Evolutionary Pilates – A challenging class which incorporates props into the traditional mat work. Created for an intermediate student who understands the principles of Pilates. (50 minutes) *Fencing – No prior fencing required. Dirk Moonen certified fencing coach in all three weapons. Equipment supplied in the beginning stages. Pilates Reformer – Take your Pilates mat workout to the next level with group Reformer classes. The Pilates Reformer improves muscle tone, balance, coordination, core strength, flexibility, and concentration. You will work your entire body against spring-loaded resistance. Previous mat experience and instructor approval required. Make your reservations today! (55 minutes, 6 participant maximum, no class packages available). Outdoor Walk Fit – It’s time to get outdoors! Meet in the community room entrance for a walking workout. (50 minutes) Sculpt – Non-impact, whole body strength workout. Spike your metabolism (using resistance) with this great workout! All levels welcome! (50 minutes). Scupt Intervals – A great muscle and cardio mix. A little bit of step intertwined with muscle scuplting. (50 minutes) Spinning – Take the ride of your life! Spinning is a group cycling class, which accurately replicates the feel of the cycle on the road. Experience hills, flat terrain and jumps using various sitting and standing positions. Classes are formatted as Endurance, Strength, Interval and Recovery. Spinning is for everyone, of any age, at any fitness level. Heart rate monitors are required to attend these classes. (45 minutes) Spin & Sculpt – This circuit style workout will boost your metabolism and firm your muscles! Half of the time will be spent on a spin bike and the other half using resistance. No boredom here! (50 minutes) Step – Fun step moves to get your heart rate up! Great fat burner! (50 minutes, class size limited to eleven) |
Tai Chi – Improves stress, balance and agility for all. It is an ancient art of gentle flowing movements to improve health. (50 minutes) Water Aerobics – The weather is getting warmer and it is time to take your workout outdoors! This class is designed to work your muscles and cardiovascular system without strain on your joints. (60 min.) *Yoga – Combine elements of strength, flexibility, concentration, and breathing. This time honored system of mind-body fitness promotes balance, harmony, relaxation, and wellness. (55 minutes) Zumba – A fusion of Latin and International high energy music with unique moves and combinations that allow participants to dance their worries away. (50 minutes) *Fee Classes – Single class $15, eight classes for $80. |
