Desert Mountain Tennis
Desert Mountain Tennis
Desert Mountain Club offers one of the finest tennis facilities in the country, offering play on all three surfaces: hard, clay and grass. This is very rare within a single facility, especially in Arizona.
|
The Tennis Center is designed for all levels of play. There are tennis programs and lessons for beginners to advanced players. Desert Mountain has numerous Tennis socials including Men’s, Ladies, and Mixed. It is a great way to get to know other Desert Mountain members or invite your friends to join the fun. |
Grass Courts
| The Stadium Grass Court at Desert Mountain is also called the “Wimbledon of the West”. It is an aesthetic work of art and is the centerpiece for the entire Sonoran clubhouse. The grass court was designed with a full water system built under the court to provide ideal growing conditions for the grass. Desert Mountain has upgraded and improved the court over the years to ensure that the grass court surface is one of the finest in the world. On a recent trip to Desert Mountain, former World No.1, Stefan Edberg proclaimed it as the “finest conditioned grass court” he had seen. If you haven’t played on a grass court, you simply must try it. |

Clay Courts |
|
The Desert Mountain Clay Courts are unlike most other. The majority of clay courts are found in Europe, where red clay is by far the most popular court surface. Desert Mountain features the distinctive gray-green Har-Tru court, which is a clay court made from slightly different organic materials. The clay courts are extremely popular with Desert Mountain Members. They provide a softer playing surface, which is more comfortable than a regular court. Desert Mountain clay courts have a Hydro Court system where the clay tennis court is built on top of a controlled water reservoir. The water level is completely level under the court, allowing evaporation and capillary action to provide water to the playing surface evenly. |
Hard Courts
| There are three hard courts at Desert Mountain and all were resurfaced in the summer of 2009. The courts are very modern with a combination of the cushion based rubber inlays common in today’s hard-courts, which provide a more forgiving, player friendly feel. |
